Your Pet's First Visit

We are a walk-in urgent care facility. We take a predetermined number of non-scheduled appointments per day on a first come, first serve basis.

When you arrive:

  • If it is before 9 AM - our phones are not yet on.

  • We use an online check in system. You can only check in on-site at our hospital.

    • When you arrive, come in to use our self serve kiosk or scan the QR code on our door.

    • The system will prompt you to check your pet in through various questions.

    • If you have an immediate emergency (difficulty breathing, active bleeding, active seizures, urinary blockage or you are AT ALL concerned - speak to one of our team members for an immediate triage. You can CALL US at any time.

      • NOTE: we will automatically triage pets based on your description of clinical signs. This is why we require you to be at our facility. Pets that need seen immediately will skip the queue.

      • Pets in need of Euthanasia will also skip our queue out of respect for the pet and the family.

    • You will receive a text message with your place in line and your estimated wait time. You are then free to leave our parking lot (please note this is still an ESTIMATE and can change at any time).

  • You will receive a text message when we are ALMOST ready to serve you. This is your prompt to head back to our hospital. If you are not in our parking lot when it is your turn, you will be skipped in line. You will be able to let us know through our two-way text messaging system.

    • You will receive another text message when we have an exam room open for you.

  • Remember: we always offer a drop off service. If you do not want to return or wait your turn in line, you can leave your pet with us.

    • We have a dedicated kennel team for potty breaks, food and water (if warranted) while your pet waits to be seen. Our doctor will then call you with exam findings and recommendations.

You do have an option to drop off your pet so that you do not have to wait, please ask our receptionist for more information.

  • Please note the wait time in rooms will vary. Priority is given to critical patients and to euthanasias. We do value your time and patience and are working very hard to keep your wait time as minimal as possible.

  • Your pet will be seen by a doctor, given a complete physical exam, a recommendation of diagnostics and treatment. An estimate is available for every service via request.

All veterinarians in our area are experiencing unprecedented high patient volume and extended wait times. We want to be as transparent as possible. Our urgent care team triages the most critical patients first. Please note, since we are unable to anticipate when a critical case will arrive, wait times are variable and nearly impossible to predict. Unfortunately, our wait times may average 4-5+ hours.

We understand that waiting any amount of time is stressful. We offer a drop off service if the wait time is not feasible for your schedule. The veterinarian will call as soon as they have examined your pet and will go over any recommendations or treatments needed. Ask our front desk staff for this convenient service.

"We can't say enough good things about the compassionate care we received during both of our visits to Rivers. After Pugsley was treated so well at his first visit, we knew where we wanted to go on the day we had a very hard decision to make. We were reassured we were making the right decision for him. Everyone we met was nothing but kind, compassionate, patient and caring to Pugsley and us. Pugsley meant the world to us and had such a great life. It is comforting to know he was in the best hands as he crossed the rainbow bridge. We truly can't thank you all enough."
